They are the largest of the African eagles and incredibly powerful, capable of knocking an adult man off his feet. They reputedly have enough power in one foot to break a man's arm. In some areas birds form an important part of the diet. In other areas the diet is largely mammalian, especially hyrax and small antelopes. Nests are built in trees. They are huge structures about four to six feet across and up to four feet thick,
