Better view of hutia
Hutias (tree rats) are moderately large rodents that inhabit the Caribbean Islands. Their length is from 8 to 18 inches. 20 species have been identified and one-third are extinct. Most are herbiverous, some eat small animals. They are hunted for food in Cuba, where they are often cooked in a large pot with wild nuts and honey.
