The former building of the Meritorious Popular Society of Santa Cecilia, was built between 1926 and 1930. The building was conceived to provide the Popular Society of Santa Cecilia a head office for meetings and social activities. The Popular Society of Santa Cecilia, shaped in this epoch by small owners, civil servants and some craftsmen, was founded in 1864 and it took the most strict racial segregation as a norm.
