Camaguey Historical Center
Camaguey si Cuba's third largest city. It was founded in 1514 as Santa Maria del Puerto Principe on the coast. It was moved several times due to uprisings by indigenous people and was at the present location in 1528. The name was changed in 1903 to honor the camagyuey tree which, according to an indigenous legend, all life is descended from.
