Cooking was all done on induction hot plates. The space at the right, I was told, was for a stove, when one could be found in the store. Our hostess wanted an electric stove with oven and induction surface and there are none in Cuba. She said there are gas stoves, but outside of Havana, gas is prohibitively expensive.
