Vitoria Gasteiz Fournier Museum of Playing Cards
Set in a 16th-century building, Bendaña Palace, this is the world's most important museum of playing cards. The museum dates back to Don Heraclio Fournier, who founded an important printing press in Vitoria in 1868. Here, various collections show visitors the evolution of playing cards through history, in different countries, both in terms of manufacture and content/design.It originated as a private collection in 1916 by Félix Alfaro Fournier, the grandson of the founder of Naipes Heraclio Fournier. It was bought by the government of Álava and was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1984.
