Seville school of art and design The origins of the Seville School of Art date back to the 17th century (1660), when Murillo, Valdés Leal and Zurbarán created the School of the Three Noble Arts. In 1884, the School of Arts and Trades and Fine Arts was established, located in what is now the Museum of Fine Arts of Seville, the former convent of La Merced, now destroyed. This was the period in which the great artists who would give lustre to the history of Andalusian painting during the 19th century and the early years of the 20th century were trained. The Chilean pavilion at the Ibero-American Exposition in Seville in 1929 was close to the other international pavilions at the exhibition: After the exhibition ended, on Hispanic Day in 1935, the Chilean Government ceded the building and the adjoining land to the Spanish government but not the consular headquarters. This building now houses the Chilean consulate and the Seville School of Art .
