Plaza de Mina
This square was built in the mid-19th century, on the site of the old vegetable garden of San Francisco convent. It was converted into a public area after the sale of church lands. The centre of the square was originally occupied by a monument to Espoz y Mina, a hero of the War of Independence whose name the square still bears. The Plaza de Mina in Cádiz is one of the most emblematic and historic squares in the city and is located in the heart of the historic center.
