The impact of war on Poland over so many years, but especially with World War II is overwhelming. This is a country that has been divided, destroyed, and ruled by others. It was only formally made a nation after WWI. This museum along with other experiences I had on the trip taught me so much and moved me deeply. We in the U.S., physically removed from the direct impact of war, for the most part do not have an undeerstanding of its horrific nature beyond that of the Holocaust.
