Gyorgy Szantos whose father and mother died in the Holocaust, decided to erect a memorial to his parents and the other Jews who died. As of 1997 only first steps had been taken, and he passed away. His son,, Andras Szanto, and the Hungarian Jewish community were able to realize his dream. It was dedicated May 17, 1998.
