Couse Foundation, Taos
In 2001 The Couse Foundation was formed to preserve the home and studio in Taos, New Mexico, of Eanger Irving Couse, the prominent early 20th century painter of American Indian subjects. Couse was one of the founders of the Taos Art Colony and first president of the Taos Society of Artists. The Couse/Sharp Historic Site has been designated an Historic Artist's Home and Studio Associate Site by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and is one of only 30 such sites so designated in the U.S.
