Minke whales also known as the Little Piked Whale.are members of the baleen or “great” whale family. the minke is a fast swimmer, capable of reaching speeds of 16-21 knots (18-24 mph). The minke can be curious, and has been known to approach ships, even at times keeping up with moving vessels.
