Fisherman's Bastion
Built in 1905, Fisherman's Bastion is a terrace in neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque style situated on the Buda bank of the Danube, on the Castle hill in Budapest, around Matthias Church. It offers the best views in Budapest. It was named for the medieval guild of fisherman responsible for defending this stretch of the castle wall. Its seven towers represent the seven Magyar tribes that settled in the Carpathian Basin in 896. It was designed by the same architect that built the Matthias Church.
