Kazmierz Kupa Synagogue
The synagogue was founded in 1643, using funds from the local kahal/qahal (mi-kupat ha-kahal) - the autonomous Jewish government - which we're told explains where the name 'Kupa' comes from, but doesn't change the fact that it translates to 'poop' in Polish. Undergoing several renovations and expansions over the centuries, the synagogue was connected to the adjacent building in the 19th century and meticulously restored in 2000. The richly decorated interior features paintings of Biblical scenes and holy places done by an unknown artist in the 1920s.
