This is where the Camp Gestapo was located. Prisoners suspected of being in the underground resistance movement or preparing o escape were interrogated here. Many died as a result of being beaten or tortured. April 16, 1947, Rudolf Hoss, the first commandant of Auschwitz, who was tried and sentenced to death by the Polish Supreme National Tribunal was hanged here.
