Wroclaw Rynek Glowny (Market Square)
Wroclaw, formerly Breslau, Germany, was an eastern outpost of the Third Reich. At the end of the war, the whole city was turned into a fortress and was attacked by the Russian army in February 1945. The Germans executed anyone who refused to fight.During the battle 75% of the city was leveled to the ground, but the market square did not suffer much damage.. 30% of the prewar population of 600,000 died. After the war, Polish people who had expelled to the Soviet Union resettled. Post war reconstruction continued into the 1980s.
