Goats have been bred at Háafell in Hvítársíða since 1989. The couple Jóhanna B. Þorvaldsdóttir and Þorbjörn Oddsson first lived with a mixed farm until 2005 when goats became the main livestock. Emphasis has been placed on the development and marketing of goat products and the utilization of all raw materials. In 2012, Geitfærsetur was opened, for visitors who want to get up close to goats, learn about them and get to know their products are welcomed.
