Outside Reykjavík Junior College, Ásmundur made Face of the Sun in Reykjavík in 1961, in copper. Enlarged to eight times the original size in 1969, it was installed outside Reykjavík High School that same year. Face of the Sun is an abstract, symbolic piece, comprising circles, triangles and lines that slice through the space. In formal terms the piece is concerned with space and motion.
