Currently, Iceland has roughly three thousand reindeer, and still only in the east and northeast of the country. he reindeer stay mostly at high elevationsReindeer are not native to Iceland. Like all other land mammals reindeer were brought to Iceland by humans in the 1770s and 1780s.
