The original fort dates back to the 11th century but its main portions were built in 1599 A.D. by Maharaja Man Singh, the famous and brave Rajput commander of Akbar's Army. Later rulers made further additions and the Palace completed, has some very interesting apartments, likes of which are not to be found anywhere else
