The most common mammal on the mountain was the dassie (the South African name, from Afrikaans, pronounced "dussy"), or rock hyrax. A young man thought these animals were very cute and stuck out his finger to attract one. Imagine his shock when the animal took a little nip. He seemed to have no idea these are wild animals
