Walking along the Yarra River
Southgate is a restaurant and shopping center The tall building behind is the Eureka Tower which opened in 2006.From 2006 to 2019, it was the tallest building in Melbourne. There is an observation deck on the 88th floor (which I chose not to visit so I could go the museums and take this walk) It is named after the Eureka Stockade, a rebellion during the Victorian gold rush in 1854. This has been incorporated into the design, with the building's gold crown representing the gold rush and a red stripe representing the blood spilt during the revolt.
