Yemelyan Pugachev (lower R)( 1742 - 10 Don Cossack , the leader of the Peasants' War of 1773-1775 in Russia. Using rumors that Emperor Peter III was alive, he named Pugachev, and he was one of dozens of imposters posing as Peter, and the most successful of them.
