Basilica Santa Maria del Mar interior
an imposing church in the Ribera district of Barcelona built between 1329 and 1383 at the height of Principality of Catalonia's maritime and mercantile preeminence. It is an outstanding example of Catalan Gothic, with a purity and unity of style that is very unusual in large medieval building. In the Middle Ages, the long periods of construction of a church, (often more than a century), often involved changes in architectural style. Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona is an exception: it was built in only 55 years, from 1329 to 1384, it is the only church of pure Catalan Gothic style .
