An annual marathon race which takes place in Madrid, Spain, in late April. The event was first held in 1978 . Classified as a Gold Label Race by the International Athletics Federation, which is the highest level of excellence—is on the same scale as such well-known races as those in New York, London or Berlin.In 2024, a total of 40,000 runners from 113 countries participated in the three races, setting a record for the event. The marathon was won by Mitku Tafa (2:08:57), Ethiopia, in the men’s race and Naom Jebet (2:26:19), Kenya, in the women’s.
