Glacier Bay National Park
Western hemlock - native name Yan. Natives would use bark to tan seal and deer hides and use the wood to carve spoons, spears, and halibut hooks. The inner bark was eaten as dessert. Hemlock bows are submerged anchored in streams with stones to provide a structure for herring to lay their eggs, a Tlingit delicacy
