World Education Senegal was established in Ziguinchor in 2001 and has played a central role in mediating the various factions of the conflict in Casamance.Abdou Sarr is director of World Education in Senegal, based in Ziguinchor, Casamance, where he continues to play an active role in mediating the peace process. He first worked for more than ten years at the Ministry for Rural Development, then at the Ministry for Social Development, where he worked as a development agent, with responsibility for project and technical assistance in several regions of Senegal. He then decided to quit the Senegalese public sector and join the NGO sector, where he worked for more than 10 years representing Oxfam (Great Britain) in Senegal and Burkina Faso.
