Courtyard Al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun Mosque built 1318. Al Nasir – a Mamluk Sultan – ordered its construction to be the Royal Mosque. The Royal Mosque is where the Sultan performs his prayers and meets the public. Al Nassir hired the brightest religious minds to preach and teach in his mosque.
