Wadi El-Natrun
St. Bishoy Monastery is surrounded by a defensive wall. The great wall was built in the ninth century, and measures about ten meters high and two meters wide. It is one hundred and sixty-six meters on the east and west, and ninety-five meters on the north and south. The wall was used to protect against the Berbers.
