Fayoum The Greeks who came to Egypt in Ptolemaic Period began to adopt Egyptian beliefs especially related to death. They mummified the bodies of their dead but devoted more attention to the external appearance of the mummy than the actual mummification. They introduced funerary masks, later adopted by the Romans.
