Hello everyone,
So, on Saturday 13th August we got a taxi from Hoi An to Da Nang train station where we caught the sleeper train to Nha Trang. Unfortunately we booked our tickets too late so had to settle for the 'hard sleeper' option which consisted of 6 bunks in a cabin as opposed to 4. We were also annoyed about the fact that the hotel had obviously ripped us off on the tickets. The beds were comfortable enough but it was pretty cramped, especially as we were sharing with a Vietnamese family, though they were nice and I had a chat with the bloke. Me and Ryan were on the middle bunks where you couldn't even sit up so it was kind of awkward.
When we arrived at the hotel we chilled out and slept to recover from the train journey. When we pulled ourselves out of bed we went for an explore around the town. Nha Trang is quite a built-up, modern, touristy beach town. We went for a walk along the beach front from where we could see Vinpearl island and the cable car to it from the mainland.
The next day we headed to Vinpearl Land which is Vietnams version of Disneyland. It is located on an island to which we got
on the 'longest cable car over the sea in the world' to get there. Firstly we went on some of the rides which were mostly only fairground standard but were still fun. Then we went into the games arcade where all of the games were free so we were kept entertained for quite a long time! Afterwards we went in the aquarium which was really good and has a walk-through underwater tunnel. We spent the rest of the day in the water park which was great and is really big. Before we left we watched a motorbike show which involved motorbike riders riding around inside a big sphere which Ryan particularly enjoyed. Although Vinpearl was not quite Disneyland, it was still really good and also really cheap, I would definitely recommend going.
On the Tuesday we did a 4 island boat trip. The first stop was an island which now has an aquarium built on it. The aquarium was OK but was no where near as good as the one at Vinpearl. Next we went to an island where we did some snorkelling which was fun, though I saw a little jellyfish so was slightly freaked out. After lunch we got to jump in the sea to the floating bar which consisted of a Vietnamese guy in a rubber ring dishing out cups of pretty horrible cocktail to us lot who were also in rubber rings. It was pretty fun, especially since there were some pretty cool people on the boat trip with us. The only downside was the tingly feeling of jellyfish stings from little jellyfish which we couldn't see. Before heading back to the harbour we went to another island where we chilled out on the beach.
On the last day we relaxed on the beach and swam in the sea which was lovely.
Lots of love,
Jo and Ryan xxx
