Hello everyone,
On Wednesday 10th we got the bus from Hue which took around 4 hours to get to Hoi An. The scenery was nice along the journey and we went through what felt like the longest tunnel ever. When we arrived we were persuaded to book a room in the hotel owned by the bus company. It was actually really nice and had a pool (!!) which was the best thing ever. It felt as though we'd arrived on holiday just because of that. We spent most of the rest of the day in the pool before heading into the town in the evening. Hoi An is lovely, especially at night. It is a bit like a Mediterranean town and has lots quaint shops and restaurants. There are lots of tailors here and it is really popular to get suits and dresses made very cheaply. We were tempted but didn't go for it in the end.
The next day we hired another scooter and drove out to Cua Dai beach which was great. The water was so so warm in the sea too. We also headed to An Bang beach which is less touristy and is more popular with locals. There were lots of circular fishing boats dotted around on the sand and in the water, I have no idea how they paddle those things in a straight line! After another nice ride back to the hotel we jumped back into the pool. Later on Ryan got his hair cut in the hotel, he wasn't too pleased as it wasn't very even and he said the woman actually hurt him.
On the Friday we pretty much just had another relaxing day. We spent the majority of it in the pool since we really wanted to make the most of it.
The day after we hired bicycles. Ryan wasn't too keen on hiring something which didn't have an engine or an element of danger but I persuaded him and he enjoyed it in the end. We cycled around the town, past the Japanese covered bridge and over the river to a nice restaurant on the other side. We were kept entertained by some cute kittens that we played with. After some more riding around and shopping in the town we headed back to the hotel. We enjoyed our last few hours in the pool before we had to get the taxi to the train station.
Lots of love,
Jo and Ryan xxx
