Little Mick's Hunny Harem Extravanganza
Hi all,
Not quite a picture of Lake Powell, but it looked nice there. We left the Grand Canyon and collected Matt from his hotel. He still wasn't feeling great after the hike, but was certainly a lot better after a good night in a nice hotel. We then headed from the Grand Canyon to Lake Powell. The Damm that created the Lake is absloutly massive and to look at the area you could only compare it to the Monty Carlo of America. Lots of big yaughts and boats docked in the area.
The beach itself was a pleasent change from the usual desert sand that we had become acustomed to and it made a change to have a day to chill out. The lake its self was freezing cold, but we still went in for a swim and to mess around. Chris came back to collect us around 5:30 and we then headed to Eastern's.
Eastern's was like another ranch in the middle of no where and he had horse riding, quad bikes and other cool stuff for usto do. When we got their Chris explained that Eastern used to be a tour leader for Trek America, so he knew what the trips were like etc. We had an option to get a bed for the night for an extra 6 bucks and when given that option I always took it. Why put up a tent and take it down if you can have a bed for 3 pound? We all stayed in the bunkhouse which had about 15 beds in it.
That evening whilst having our dinner 3 girls called down to us and told us that there group was the most boring ever and that they wanted to know if we were up for partying??? Is the pope catholic was the response? So we all headed up to the barn with all of our drink and began playing Jenga with a twist. Instead of just pushing a block out with out making the tower fall down, you also had to read the two tasks on the block and carry out won of them. For example run round the table clucking like a chicken. That was a good task and as we learnt they got a lot more risky than that. Drinking beer out of some one's belly button was still one of the nicer tasks. I'll let you imagination run riot from there, but Niklas had to give one of the Danish girls a lap dance!!!! You don't want to know what I had to do.
Myself and Chris left the party at around 3ish and locked the door of the dorm on our way in - not realising that Martin was still not back. He had to sleep on top of the bus again. It was now becomming a regular occurance.
The next morning we were up at 9 for horse riding. Only Kelly, Martin and me went this time, but it was still a good laugh as the horses were better than at Slim's. My horse was a bit cranky and panicked when we came across quicksand, but I later realised it was only because he wanted road. Once I let him off he was flying and felt much safer than on Clyde's back. Martin's horse decided to lie down by the river at one stage so Martin had to jump off before he had a horse ontop of him. Kel being the pro on the horses had no such problems.
After that me and Kelly went on the quad bikes. Stine & Rasmus had been on them earlier and said they were good craic so off we went. We were taken up a canyon, which was quite good as you had a massive drop either side of you. When we got back Amy was still in bed - I think she had some sort of bug, but there was some dispute, she was blaming Martin's cooking, I was blaming alochol, but what ever it was she was not in the best of form. It was really just a bug.
We left Eastern's & headed for Bryce Canyon. Eastern told Chris that he could take a 40 mile short cut as the river was not flooded, so off we went on this dirt road in the middle of no where. Chris was driving like a loon, but in fairness it was very good driving also. How Kavitt slept all the way through going over 5 foot jumps and around bad bends I do not know.
Eastern's was another good part of the US and it was nice to meet another group that were up for partying. Although I'd say the girls in our group were none too impressed with them. A touch of the green eyed monster - perhaps??? They were supposed to be in vegas around the sametime as us so maybe we would see them again???
That's all from Eastern's,
Michael
