Pura Vida! That's the Costa Rican slogan, and we can understand why. This country is full of different ways to chill, enjoy life and challenge your fears. During our two days of super strong wind and sideways rain in the mountains of Monte Verde we went canopying (ziplines) through completed rainbows. That is, they weren't only the normal half circled ones--the valleys were so deep, that we could see the entire circle! It was such an amazing experience of nature... Going 50 km/h over a 1km zipline while the wind is blowing so strongly that it feels like its gonna rip you off of the zipline and send you 400 meters down, to the bottom of the valley. It was so scary and sooo much fun!
The cold nights of Monte Verde quickly turned into super hot and niiiiice heat--when we got on the super long bus ride to the beaches of St Teresa. Here is backpacker disneyland: the coolest hostel ever, 20 m away from the beach, the foodstore and the laundry service! We're kinda feeling like we've been staying here too long--but we're having such a great time surfing, cooking and partying with tons of travellers from everywhere--it's gonna be hard to leave that behind! We're eating like kings and queens--having befriended two guys who are amazing cooks and pancake makers. Worth mentioning: mexican night, Australian barbie and guacamole sandwiches. MMmmmmM. Surfing too was soo much fun, an Australian guy gave us the basic lesson, and we both rented surf boards. Worth mentioning here: we both stood up on the board and surfed to the shore! We most definately have to stay for the Full Moon Party tomorrow night--Thai style with buckets and bonfires!
Wednesday we'll be moving on to another beach site, or we might go rafting closer to the capital. Soon comes the day our travel in Central America is over--and Peru is our first destination in South America. It's crazy that we've already been travelling for one month! It feels awesome... And we're so glad that it's still far from over!
Biiiig warm surfer's hugs from Linda n Helene
