Hi all!
How are you going? Well, today is my first full day in Kerala, Fr Thomas came and picked me up from the airport yesterday, with his brother and a friend. But I'm getting to that!
I haven't written in for a few days because I've been so busy, and I don't have much time now either, so a quick overview will have to do!
The husband and wife who live on the boat came back to the hostel. She didn't get her hip replacement done last week because she had a cold, so I spent Thursday and Friday with them. Their names are Lizzie and Wally.
On Thursday, we caught an auto to George Town. Now, the previous photos that I put in weren't of George Town, they were of Egmore Museum. Typical thing for auto drivers to do - they don't know where it is you want to go, so they drop you somewhere else!
Anyway, the auto was the quickest way for us to get to know eachother! Three adults was quite a squeeze! Again, the auto driver didn't know where the Fort in George Town was, so he dropped us on an extremely busy street and said it was on the other side of the road. By the time we crossed and found it wasn't there, he was well and truly gone! Eventually we found the High Court. This was an interesting place. The lawyers and solicitors and judges and such all walked around in their suits looking and acting very swish. My trackies got a few dirty looks!
After this, we went to Egmore Museum (for the third time :)) and then to lunch at Amethyst, a nice cafe. For the three of us though, it cost 1300Rs! Still cheap for Australia, but any other restaurant would have cost 300Rs! We then went to St George's Cathedral and the Sultan Mosque, before rushing home for a quick wash and going out to a South Indian Classical Dance. It was fantastic!
Anyway, I have to go now, I will write more tomorrow,
Sorry!
Love and miss you all,
Melody
