Mitch´s South American Travels
Arrived in Cusco from Copacapana,Bolivia today after 12 hour bus ride- complete with accompanying dead animal carcasses and peruvian vendors trying to sell us everything but the kitchen sink at each pit stop.
Cusco is an impressively modern city, scattered with dozens of eye catching architectural structures ( churches, Inca museums etc) and riddled with good eateries/ pubs etc. It's also the base for arranging every tour under the sun so we{re headed for 5 day tour via Machu Piccu Inca city on Monday and wicked class 4/5 white water rafting following that ( peru is still relativelycheap, though not a patch on Bolivia's value against our dollar).
It{scommon to be targeted by locals to purchase "baby llama", "look, soft baby llama" merchandise ( scarfs, ponchos etc.) as this material is very good quality ...I found it amusing that this was the selling point as I had a warped image of them lining up baby llamas and slaughtering them in a lovely green paddock with high powered artillery...obviously they are only shawn like sheep but I found this balck humour amusing nonetheless..apoplogies to any vegetarians I have offended ( Dave, peace out brother)
