I am an adventurous individual, always seeking new experiences and destinations. I am outgoing and optimistic. I am at one with nature, a dog lover and foster, and I am happiest mid-adventure; whether travelling or simply trying something new at home.
Growing up with a family of sports and outdoor enthusiasts made me the adventurous person I am today. My family went to the "regular" Disneyland-type trips, but nothing more extravagant than that. It wasn't until I became an adult that I really started to explore this world and what it has to offer.
It all started with an IMAX documentary about Mount Kilimanjaro. I was fascinated. I was hooked. I went home and booked my first big across-the-seas vacation. That same year, I booked an additional vacation to Thailand and then researched an even bigger trip to South America. Although, the South American trip has not happened yet, it is still at the forefront of my mind.
The deep wanderlust that has developed in me has led me to trying many adventurous things. Some of these pursuits include water skiing and sail boating, skydiving and parasailing, caving and ice climbing, and snorkelling in both the Caribbean waters and the frigid waters of Iceland.
The last three years alone, I have been to Europe four times (a month-long bus tour, my wedding and two-week honeymoon with family and friends, a month-long driving tour through several countries and a week-long father-daughter trip to Iceland.
What do I have planned for the future? Well, the possibilities in this world really are endless. The next destination always seems to change as I learn and experience new things. I am always on the lookout for my next great escape or wild adventure. One thing I know for sure is that I am not a sit-and-do-nothing girl. I need to explore, learn and do! I have not done it all, but I will try most things once.
What I have learned about what travel and adventure do for me:
· Travel is a great distraction from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. Sometimes travel can be chaotic and the adventure wild, but they are both a different kind of crazy. A crazy that soothes and distracts from adult life.
· Travel creates independence. I love to travel with family and friends, but I also don't need specific company to satisfy my urge. I plan the where and when; offering friends and family to join once my itinerary is confirmed.
· Travel and adventure puts the focus back on having fun. How could I not have fun exploring new worlds and trying new things? For me, adventure has the ability to eliminate boredom. As long as I am open to the idea of uncertainty, interesting ventures are sure to happen…and getting lost definitely leads to great storytelling.
· With every adventure, I learn more about myself. Each journey brings me closer to knowing my true self, and every failure in an adventure allows me to showcase my strengths.
A social butterfly; I am very much an outgoing, crazy girl with a big personality that gets me noticed in a lot of situations. Being boisterous, loud and silly allows me to be seen and heard. I am happy to express my opinions on most topics and always encourage friendly debate. I am excited to engage with others in a variety of ways.
Selling my adventures as a travel consultant and penning my experiences in blogs keeps the memories alive and allows me to share my adventures with the world.
Finally, I end with a quote from an unknown source that I feel describes me well: "Never Stop Wondering, Never Stop Wandering." The world is waiting to be discovered and explored.
