After we had done some shopping and the "dead cat" episode, we are preparing for the next move tomorrow, but right now I'm still enjoying the peace, the pleasantness of the surroundings and the hospitality of my host family here in Fort Stockton.

Did Fort Davis yesterday: mountains, the observatory, lunch at the Indian Lodge, and the fort. An excellent tour, spectacular views. Next we'll do some driving by the golf cart and then will run some errands in the city and visit the old folks.

Experienced one more very hot day and a mighty thunderstorm after had got back home - and survived it. There was thunder, lightnings, high wind, rain poured down and after that hails. The meeting with the group of friends had to be cancelled for today. We'll meet tomorrow night.

Toured Fort Stockton: Annie Riggs Museum, a pottery shop, different neighbourhoods, and saw the landmark Paesano Pete, the world's biggest roadrunner. Roadrunners are typical of the region but I've seen none of them live yet...lizards instead. Maybe it's too hot for them as well as for rabbits. The Belding Farms is one of the biggest pecan orchards in the USA. The pecan trees need lots and lots of water and here it's sometimes scarce. So we spotted a totally dead...

Toured the ranch, mountain and the Pecos River. Cows, horses, and lot of open space: that's the prairie. The temperature was +33 C, sunny and hot. It started raining with a thunder storm in the evening and we had a cosy supper with my host family in the house. More explorations will follow tomorrow...
