A day of travel (3 trains & a total of 7 hours in trazit) had us arriving in Paris just after 5:30pm. This morning was Darryl time, so I hired a mountain bike (Scott 27 plus) and headed off up the valley from zematt. The trail heads through the village and into the country side winding it's way up the side of the valley past small farms and thru a number of small villages come sking/hunting cabins. Today was targeted as a kids fun day, so we looked at the options and decided on a trip up one of the lower mountains - Sunnegga to a small play area and lake, that doubles as a learners ski area in winter. We're now in Zermatt, near the Italian border, a skiing resort village, which is very like Queenstown, with lots of tourist shops, and wooden and shist/stone buildings.It's a bit bigger than we expected and a lot more commercialised which is slightly disappointing. Today our final day in Brienz we took the ferry over to see the Grandhotel and Waterfalls at Geissbach. April wasn't keen on the outing: "A waterfall is just water mixed with air falling down a steep river" and would rather have stayed behind, but we dragged her along anyway.
