Milla and Jonny's Travels
It may sound strange, but we are actually bored of sitting around on the beach getting brown! The island is quite a touristy place, with not a lot to do apart from bum on the beach, eat and drink. This inspired us to do something slightly different.
So, yesterday we missioned it to a secluded waterfall in the centre of the island. Deep in the jungle, in a clearing lies the beautiful Na Muang Falls. You don't appreciate how amazing a waterfall is until you witness it for yourself and swim in it. The place was free from tourists with only a handful of Thai families swimming in the waters, which was a nice change from German families and lads on the piss who can be found everywhere else on the island. Close to the falls is a nature reserve, where we saw our first elephants of this trip.
As we were leaving the falls, the heavens opened, as we were caught in a monsoon. We huddled under a shack and ate chicken with the locals. Very romantic. On our way home, we tried our hand at hitch-hiking, unsuccessfully. It appears we look a bit too dodgy, and no one wanted to pick us up! So, we took the local transport home, which involved hanging off the back of what we've come to call a Big-Tuk (can't pronounce the name, larger version of a Tuk-Tuk).
We are leaving tomorrow for the island of Koh Phangnan, Ko Samui's rebellious little sister. This is where the famous Full Moon Party takes place, where thousands of people come, once a month, to rave on the beach! On the 14th April is the Thai new year celebrations, so it's a sort of double party. The Thai New year party involves a huge waterfight across the whole of Thailand!
