When I realised that I would be in Oz for my birthday and probably the only time I would ever have a summer celebration I was so excited. So why on Earth we didn't twig that going to the mountains would puta stop to the hot day I will never know!We had one of those days where you just drive and drive and drive so when we got to our rest area ad there was no one there so it wasn't totally safe.We decided to drive on, then we got to the only camp site and it was closed but we had noticed that the exit barrier was open so we sneaked on!At least I would be able to have a shower on my birthday (yes expectations of birthday presents have dropped, all I asked for was a shower!)To say it was cold when we woke up would have been kind it was misty and freezing!Aaron had found me a book from 1987 on Planets and stars in a farmers market for my present and bought me…a BOTTLE of wine, a REAL bottle of wine can I point pout that I was even more of a gentleman and let you drink the whole bottle while I stayed on the goon!We spent the day at lookouts, the Blue Mountains are really something else, every lookout gives the most breathtaking views. On returning to the site and having a kick about we met Brother and Sister Dave and Frances, from the moment they pulled up we all never stopped gabbing, we decided to invite them over to dinner on the condition that they had to sing the birthday song.We had Spag bol and Apple pie for dessert, which we decorated and squeezed in 24 2 matches (no candles) Dave was on standby with the fire extinguisher as we lit the matches and sang, it was a close call but no damage by either the fire or singing to report.
The next day we decided on doing a walk down to the Canyon, out of all the walks and treks we have done this was up there with them, it was picturesque and we decided to end the health kick with chips with vinegar on!
That night Dave and Fran cooked a dinner there way (outside) and we drove down to the 3 sisters which are meant to be lit up of a night, unfortunately the fog was so thick you couldn't see your own feet!
Before we set off on the Wednesday we took a scenic route into the valley via a sky lift which takes you right across the tops of the trees, we also took a train which when you get on your lying down, once it starts the decent down the cliff face your actually standing up, its really that steep!
So after a truly lovely break in the mountains its time to head to Sydney for Xmas and New Year with Lydia and Bobby on Bondi- beach action is well needed!
