We have had some amazing trips from here. We spent the night up in Kakadu and then had an early morning start to go for a road boat road trip to see Aborigine rock paintings. We also saw quite a bit of wildlife along the way. It is the wet season and we have seen some spectacular thunder storms. Some of the place names are fun too with Humpty Doo being one that comes to mind. We also had a little tour to see the Uranium mine at Ranger, the source of 10% of the worlds uranium. The land is very rich in natural resources but the soil itself fairly poor.
We returned to Darwin and had another day tour south to the Litchfield area where we saw magnetic termite mounds. We also had a look at some waterfalls and in the afternoon had the opportunity to go for a swim. Swimming at this time of year is in restricted areas as there are more crocodiles around in the wet season. We chose just to go for a walk despite the heat and humidity. We later learned that a girl had be lost in a crocodile attack that same afternoon but she was on private land elsewhere in the area.
