We left KL earlyish in the morning, and carried our bags to the bus station which is about a 10 minute walk. Arriving at the bus station, we were bombarded with people askign where we were going and trying to sell us tickets, you get that a lot. You might as well write 'No Thanks' on your forehead as they all try and sell you the same things. We booked our ticket to Butterworth, then caught a ferry to Penang, an island on the West coast of Malaysia as it seemed appropriate place to stop on our way up to Thailand. We stayed in the White House Hotel, a family run place with quite a few rooms. Wandering around, there didn't seem much to do so we decided to just stay the one night. We definately should have brought a guide book for Malaysia with us. The night was very hot making it hard to sleep. We are off up North today.
