Just a short post here. We arrived in Vang Vieng, searching for a place to stay and an ATM, a rarity in Laos. There are 2 in Louang Phrabang and only one here in Vang Vieng. The town is odd, it is a tourist trap with loads of touristy bars etc, but it is the place to be for adventure sports. Lorna and Fiona often go rock climbing back in Scotland and they wanted to try some out here, so they asked us if we wanted to do it with them. Not having done it before we decided to give it a go. We got a Tuk Tuk to near the base of the mountain where we had to walk for a while through fields and then up some steep slopes to where we were going to climb. We spent the whole day there, on 3 different climbs of varying degrees of difficulty. It wasn't easy, but it was a lot of fun, and has made us want to try it back home. We arrived back, and after getting freshened up, headed out for food at one of the TV bars, where they play either Friends or Family Guy (that's all we have seen so far) over and over again. You could stay for a few days and just watch every single episode of Friends. A few days here then down to Vientiene and onwards to Vietnam!
