Beckys Birthday!
So for this year, we spent Becksys Birthday in Quito! In the morning we took a cable car up to the top of one of the mountains overlooking the city. Unfortunately, when we got up there it had completely clouded over so we did not manage to see much, but the ride up there was very nice.
After the cable car we took a taxi to the Old city and we had decided we wanted to see three of the most famous churches in Quito (there are 86 churches in total). Once again our luck was not with us as two of them where closed that day but we did manage to go up the most recent and, in my opinion the most impressive, The Church of the Bassicle. It took over 70 years to build and it quite english looking inside with its stain glass windows and high arches. But, the best things about the church is the fact you can go to the top of it and from here you can get amazing views of the Old City(better than the bloody cable car).
With a nice walk around and a chill in the park, we were ready to back to our hostel and go out and celebrate Beckys birthday in true style. So, after some food and a bottle of wine, we hit the main area to go out in Quito called La Mariscal. We first went an open area with a load of posh bars and some live spanish music, which was quite a good way to start the night. Then on to more of a nightclub/bar called zocolocos. There was a bit of dancing here and I tried to get Becky on the dance floor but i don´t think she was inebreiated enough yet. So on to the next place, an actual nightclub. By this time we both felt it must have been quite late because things seemed to be slowing down, so we had another drink and headed for bed. To both of our disguist we got back and checked the time and it was only 1 AM and we had only been out three hours!!! Shocking behaviour, it must be the old age! lol
