Much of the first day in Cuenca was spent wandering around the town getting to know the place and looking around its amazing churches and parks. One such building was the Cathedral de Inmaculada, which has to be one of the largest and most impressive Cathedrals I have ever seen. It was meant to be the largest in all of South America, but the architect got some calculations wrong so they could not add the last remaining parts to the building.
The second day was spent by walking around the Cajas National Parks, which is only an hour outside of Cuence and has over 230 lakes to it name. After an early start Becky and I got going on a four hour walk. The walk had to be one of the most enjoyable we had done on our travels. It was not to difficult, which meant we could take in the beautiful scenery and it took us through a variety of terrain, including the coolest forest that looked like it has come from a Harry Potter film! One of the best things about the walk was the fact that we did not see a single soul the whole time we were in the park.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing apart from a slight accident in an Internet cafe; Becky was feeling a bit dehydrated so wanted to take a rehydration sachet, but she hated the taste of them. So, Becky´s Mum (a chemisty teacher) told her to mix the sachet with Sprite! Unfortunately, what we did not know was that when you mix a rehydration sachet with a fizzy drink it has a slight reaction. So, in the middle of the internet cafe the sprite bottlle exploded all of the floor and came very close to ruining one fof the computers in the cafe! Beckys was not too amused but i was left with quite a grin on my face!
