So we're nearly a week into our travels and are now in China having spent a few days in Hong Kong! It was amazing in HK with some amazing scenery, city life and air conditioned malls! Heaven in this Hot, humid climate (30 degrees and 80%!) We were literally making our journeys so that they travelled through the Malls!
So what have we seen? On the first day we were feeling pretty tired after all the flying and train journeying! We eventually found the pick up point for the hostel shuttle bus and hopes were high! However, we got to the Hostel and considering the price we were less than impressed! We headed in HK and went over to Kowloon on the Star Ferry and took in the light show that is put on every evening. It was pretty spectacular watching all the buildings light up in time to music.
After a good night sleep we spent the next day visiting the Big Buddha, which we think may be the biggest there is! The big buddha really was a big mutha! We had to climb a silly amount of steps to get to the top but it was worth it just for the view at the top! The cable car journey to the buddha was also pretty spectacular due to its height!
In the evening we went to HK peak to watch the sun set and take some photies! It was good fun but really crowded as all the locals were out due to it being a Saturday night!
Yesterday we went to Stanley to have a mooch around the market and then went to the beach, where we experienced our first torential downpour! It was so funny watching the beach empty as everyone ran for cover!!!!
Today we made our way to China on our trip through to Vietnam. We are in a really nice hostel and have chatted to some lovely fellow travellers. We went out for a meal and for the two of us it cost less than a coffee in HK, although the whole meal process itself was not without drama! First, none of the staff spoke ANY english and secondly I am less than practiced in the use of chopsticks! All in all we ate some nice food but it was a very funny experience too!!!
Tomorrow we are going to get our visa sorted from the embassy and we think we are going to stick around here for the next few days.
No facebook here so keep checking here for updates!
Loads of love etc
