Hi Mike, believe it or not at 2am today i was watching tv and what should come on but A Place in the Sun and there were you and LIz. How wonderful to see you after such a long time. I thought you both looked great and I'm sorry tohear that some of your more witty comments were left on the cutting room floor. You were probably too much for them.
Keep well and enjoy your summer cruising. After a long hot summer and mild autumn it's starting to get a bit colder here - only 17 today.
All the best

Hey you seem to be having a great time. Glad you enjoyed Auxerre , it is a lovely city.
Mo and I have just returned from my sons wedding in Fiji. Had a fabulous time. Mo is back to work next week and I have to go and play golf and go sailing. LOL
I have subscribed to your blog so will be following your progress with interest.
We are back in Auxerre in October.
Best wishes Bob and Mo

Dear Liz, I think you may be an old school friend of mine - a long story (via a LinkedIn search that threw up your details) but if you were at RGS until '82, please do get in touch. And obviously my apologies if you are not this person!

Mike - was reading your earliest blogs. You've almost finished your first year a-wandering! A while to go before you catch up with Moses, but good to see you've started on the beard! ;-)
(PS- what boating/cruising books are you using or have enjoyed?)
Mike
John Tindall - thank you so much for all the reading recommendations! We will certainly look into them when time permits, and errant on-board boilers allow (fixed now, we think!). Great to meet you and Veronique.. Hope the rest of your joirney was fantastic! All the best, Mike nd Liz

A bit more on Mike Walsh - his website http://www.sailblogs.com/member/sequitur/
mentioned he has a book out: http://www.amazon.com/Carefree-European-Canals-Michael-Walsh/dp/0991955641
Time for another addition to the library!

Here's another account you might read to kill some time:
Mike Walsh had a wonderful blog "Lady Jane: A Canadian Registered Dutch Kruiser on the Canals of France". This account starts at St.Jean de Losne too (I think i mentioned it to you at Trebes). Sadly, it's no longer on the net but I do have a hard-copy though... Send me your email and I'll send you a pdf if you like.

Hi Mike - I promised to share some of the books I have on cruising in Europe:
- any of Bill & Laurel Cooper's books (eg "Backdoor to Byzantium")
- John Latham "Adventures of Hebe"
- Marian Martin "The European Waterways"
- High McKnight "Cruising French Waterways"
- Irving Johnson "Inside Europe Aboard Yankee", National Geographic, Vol 126, No 2, August 1964. (Yes, 1964. That took some finding)
These are all about the fun and challenges of touring Europe's inland waterways. Any other suggestions, Mike or anyone else?
There was a monumental account of an American who cruised from Holland to the Black Sea via the Rhine and Danube, out into the Med, up the Atlantic coast of Spain and back to Holland. He "circumnavigated" Europe by boat! I think it was in a 1970s Nat Geo but have never been able to find it again. Ideas, anyone?

Hello, darlings! Missing you. Have finished at the EPA - well, sort of - and all is very well. Loving your blog, bien sur.
