Early arrival under the Golden Gate Bridge. Ruby Princess was docked nearby, spookily, she was the ship I thought about doing a round Britain cruise on last September.
Rob, Lin, Barbara and I left the ship about 9:00 and wandered along Fisherman's Wharf to see if we could get a tour to Monterrey. We couldn't, but a woman appeared by the queue and asked if anyone wanted to go to Muir Woods and Sausalito, which we did. She queue jumped us and a couple of minutes later we were on the bus. We drove over the Golden Gate Bridge and on to Muir Woods. We strolled through the woods for about an hour. We actually saw a fawn hiding under a tree. Then it was on to Sausalito, which is a small seaside town across the bay. It was expensive and quite pretty, but didn't really do much for me.
Back in San Francisco, we went to Ghirardelli Square and then strolled along Fisherman's Wharf. We went to Ross Dress For Less where Rob and I both bought a shirt and then we left the girls and went to the Hard Rock for a couple of beers. All the women on the ship seem to think that RDFL is wonderful, but to me it's no different to TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Hey Ho.
Linda stayed on board but the three of us went out to eat. We ate at Fog Harbour, an expensive but very good sea food restaurant on Pier 39. I went out for a while, but was back on board in time for the Syndicate Quiz, where we won bottle number 40. It was Scott's last quiz and we said goodbye, we'll all miss him.
As we were having late night hot drinks, the Ruby Princess left port.
A good port day, with mixed weather, cool, then very warm and then chilly with a cool wind.
