I got up early and thought I'd do my washing, so encumbered with my basket, I opened my bedroom door and walked straight into a bunch of balloons Barbara and Linda had stuck on my door. As I was walking out of the Battle of the Sexes, the captain was making his daily announcement. He told us that we would cross the International Dateline sometime in the next day or so and that he had made the decision to lose the 13th rather than Valentines Day, so it's his fault I lost my birthday! Because of the crossing, we're now 14 hours ahead of the UK, rather than 10 behind.
When I was playing deck quoits, one of the ladies gave me a present. It was a P&O pen and key ring set, so that even if I never get a gold sticker for anything (one of which is worth a pen), then at least I'd have one of them! I'm still determined to get a sticker for quoits. I got as far as the semi's today.
As I'd lost my birthday, all of my table decamped to the Pennant Grill to celebrate tonight. As it was another formal night, we decided that the men would wear black and white and the ladies colour. First we had some champagne in Phil and Yvonne's mini suite. It was great to stand on the balcony drinking champagne. Then we had a really nice meal before heading for Masquerades. They were just finishing a game when we arrived. I was then hauled up to the dance floor where they sang Happy Birthday to me, before presenting me with a champagne bottle shaped birthday cake.
We then partied and once again I overindulged! P and Y usually go to bed before 10, but they stayed up until 2.30. I ended up chatting to Lembit Opik until just before 4. He gave me a, chaste, goodnight kiss!!
